Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Everything you need to know about our suits — from sizing and quality to shipping and returns. Still have a question? Contact us here.
It depends entirely on where you buy them. Most cheap suits look cheap — poor construction, bad fabric, worse fit. That reputation is earned.
But the reason most suits are expensive has less to do with quality and more to do with the retailer markup. A suit that costs $400 in a department store often costs $40 to make — the other $360 pays for the brand name, the showroom, and the middlemen.
We manufacture our own suits and sell directly to you online. No middleman, no showroom, no markup. The money that would have gone to retail overhead goes into the suit instead.
"I honestly thought this would look cheap. I was completely wrong. My tailor said it was one of the better constructed suits he'd seen at any price." — verified buyer
"Skeptical at first… $99 high quality suit sounds extra suspect. But the suit was great. Quality amazing. So impressed I ordered 4 more. Never spending thousands again." — Brian S., verified buyer
The short answer: our suits are priced low because we cut out the middleman — not because we cut corners. Judge for yourself at Suits Starting at $69.
We used to manufacture suits for major designer brands. Those brands marked them up 10x by the time they reached you. In 2015 we started selling directly to customers online — no middlemen, no showroom overhead, no markups. The savings go straight to you.
"I didn't think a $69 suit could actually be good. Boy, was I wrong. I am recommending Alain Dupetit to all of my friends and family." — Matthew E., verified buyer
"Easily as good as a $500 suit from anywhere else. Too good to be true… except it's true." — verified buyer
We have over 11,000 reviews — the vast majority five stars — from customers who were skeptical, bought one, and came back to buy more.
Our suits are crafted from a premium Tetron/Rayon/Spandex blend, fully lined in 100% Viscose. The fabric is designed to drape beautifully, hold its shape, resist wrinkles, and move with you — not against you. The Spandex content gives a natural flex that most traditional suit fabrics don't have.
"The material feels great, without that synthetic or cheap feel to it. I would wear it every week if I could." — verified buyer
"Suit came in and was very well made. Stitched nicely and very nice material. Definitely worth it for the price." — verified buyer
Each suit has a fully lined jacket with clean internal finishing — the kind of detail you'd expect from suits that cost significantly more.
Our customers don't just say our suits are "just as good" as expensive ones — many say they're actually better. Better fit, better drape, better value. When you're not paying for a brand name or a retailer's markup, the money goes into the suit itself.
"Fits and looks as good or better than suits I've paid $300+ for. I will order again and again." — verified buyer
"The days of $400 suits, mediocre quality, are over. Only regret is not finding you over the last five years." — verified buyer
"It fit right in with the $200 rented suits for the groomsmen at my daughter's wedding — and ours looked better." — verified buyer
Less than you might think. All of our suit pants feature an expandable waistband — an elastic panel built into the waist that gives and adjusts to your body naturally. Most customers find the waist fits comfortably right out of the box without any alteration needed.
Some customers do choose to have the pants hemmed to their preferred length — a basic hem typically costs $15–25 at any tailor. The jacket typically fits well straight away.
"Can't beat the price of these suits and the quality is great! After getting them tailored and putting them on I feel like a new man!" — verified buyer
Yes — weddings are one of the most common use cases for our suits. We have hundreds of reviews from grooms, groomsmen, wedding guests, and fathers of the bride or groom.
"My groomsmen and I wore them for my wedding. Hard to believe it's so nice at this price point. Highly, highly recommended." — Reed S., verified buyer
"I purchased 4 suits for my groomsmen a year ago. They still have and wear the suits today." — verified buyer

We carry 52 sizes per suit — from 32 Short to 64 Regular — in slim and classic cuts. Here's how to measure:
Jacket: Measure your chest at the fullest point beneath the armpits. That measurement is your jacket size (e.g. 40" chest = size 40 jacket).
Pants: Wrap the tape around your natural waist — hold 4 fingers below your belly button; below that is your waist.
Length: Short (S) 5'3"–5'7" • Regular (R) 5'7"–6'1" • Long (L) 6'1½"–6'6"

Yes. We carry sizes up to 64 Regular and offer Short, Regular, and Long lengths across most styles. With 52 sizes per suit, we cover a much wider range than most suit retailers. Use the size chart or our Virtual Body Sizing Tool to find your exact fit.
Slim fit is cut closer to the body through the chest, waist, and thighs — a modern, tailored silhouette. Classic fit has more room through the body for a traditional, comfortable cut. See our full guide: Slim Fit or Classic Fit?

Alain Dupetit is a men's suit brand with roots going back to 1968, when Parisian tailor Alain Dupetit began crafting suits with a focus on European cut and quality. The brand carried that tradition into the US market, and in 2015 we began selling factory direct online — cutting out the retailer markup entirely.
The result: the same quality sold in department stores for $300–$500, direct to you for a fraction of the price. No middleman, no showroom, no markup.
We have over 11,000 reviews collected through Stamped.io, a third-party verified review platform. All reviews are from verified purchasers. Over 6,000 of those reviews are five stars. We don't edit or filter reviews — the good and the occasional critical review are all there.
45% of our customers have bought more than once. Once people experience the quality-to-price ratio, buying a second or third suit in a different color becomes an easy decision.
"Five suits later, I am amazed. Try one — you will buy another. And another." — James L., verified buyer
"I have purchased more than 10 suits from Alain Dupetit. All are beautiful and highly complimented." — Timothy S., verified buyer
